You have four cards in front of you and you can see one side of each. They say TRAIN, BUS, LEEDS and MANCHESTER.

You are told that if you want to go to MANCHESTER you have to go by TRAIN. Which cards do you have to turn over to find out if that is true?

Herr Cutter the German Barber

Mrs Hack the journalist from the Daily News and

Chris Maslanka's listeners' puzzle

  1. Dr Frankenstein needed more power to bring the monster to life. He sends Igor to the village to buy batteries. He has a battery holder that takes 2 batteries at a time, no more no less. Igor knows that for each combination of 2 batteries he can achieve 2 voltages, the sum of the 2 batteries or the difference. ie with a 7 volt and an 11 volt battery he could achieve 18 volts (the sum) or 4 volts (the difference). Dr Frankenstein needs voltages from 1 upwards. Igor can only afford 4 batteries. What should he buy?
